Silvrex's directors have wide ranging experience of minerals exploration companies and have been directly or indirectly involved in the flotation of a number of such companies.


John Cole-Baker

John Cole-Baker, Non-Executive Chairman, (aged 62)

Mr Cole-Baker has gained over 30 years of experience in infrastructure and mining projects throughout the world. He has been involved at various levels up to Project Director for infrastructure and mining development, as well as restructuring projects in Africa, Europe, the Former Soviet Union, the Middle East and the Indian sub-continent.

Previous Directorships have included consulting companies, CSA Group Limited, IMC Limited, Mackay & Schnellmann Limited. He was also Managing Director for a gold exploration company, BUMINCO, in Burundi.

Since the early 1990s, Mr Cole-Baker has been responsible for exploration and mining consultancy projects, of which a large number involved reporting for the raising of finance on various stock exchanges.

Other projects include pre-feasibility studies and support and advice to exploration and operational projects in places as far apart as Kosovo, Spain, Republic of Guinea, Tanzania and Sénégal for commodities such as gold, lead, zinc, diamonds, coal and phosphate.

Over the past fifteen years Mr Cole-Baker has had significant involvement in advice to Governments and restructuring of government institutions. Countries in which he has carried out such advice include Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania, Mali, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Mozambique, Madagascar, Botswana, Jordan and Armenia. These projects have enabled him to understand how to do business in these countries. His overall understanding of the mineral industries and the key aspects which affect investment has resulted in his being commissioned by UNCTAD to advise on the promotion of investment in the sector.

Mr Cole-Baker brings to Silvrex his extensive international experience of working in diverse countries and of negotiating mining agreements. He is fluent in French and has a good working knowledge of Spanish.



Edward (Ed) Slowey
Edward (Ed) Slowey, Managing Director (aged 59)

Ed has worked throughout his career as an economic geologist in the minerals sector. Most recently he has been attached to the CSA Consultancy Group working out of London and Dublin as Project Manager responsible for independent review, valuation and due diligence in mining and exploration, covering base metals, precious metals and diamonds in Europe, Africa, Asia and America. Work included completion of Competent Person's Reports and 43-101 independent reports for the AIM, OFEX (now PLUS) and TSX markets. Other roles undertaken in a consultancy capacity include Exploration Manager, Russia for AIM-listed Eurasia Mining Plc, as well as minerals project management through feasibility study.

Previously, Ed managed the Irish exploration arm of Rio Tinto over a 12-year period, focussing on base and precious metals in carbonate, volcanic and metamorphic terrain.

Prior to that, he worked as an exploration geologist in Ireland for a Canadian junior company and as an underground mine geologist at the world-class Navan zinc-lead deposit. Ed holds a geology degree from University College, Dublin and is a professional member of the Institute of Geologists of Ireland and the European Federation of Geologists.


Ian Anthony
Ian Anthony, Finance Director (aged 45)

Ian Anthony is a chartered accountant, having qualified with Ernst and Young in 1990. He pursued a career in investment banking gaining experience within Paribas Capital Markets, Bankers Trust, Deutsche Bank and Barclays Capital. Ian was Chief Financial Officer for AIM-listed Horizonte Minerals Plc and is now the Finance Director of Woodland Capital Limited.

He also runs his own finance consultancy, IA Consultants Limited and is director of a Bulgarian Property company. Ian holds an honours degree in Banking and Finance.





Gavin Burnell
Gavin Burnell, Non-Executive Director (aged 32)

Gavin has specialised in smaller capitalised companies for the last six years. He joined Ruegg & Co, a London based corporate finance boutique which is active in bringing new issues to AIM and PLUS, in 2001 and was responsible for equity sales and maintaining client relationships with a number of AIM and PLUS listed corporate clients. Since Ruegg’s recent takeover by Astaire Securities, Gavin now works as Director, Corporate Finance for Astaire.



Gavin was a founder shareholder and Non-Executive director of Stratex International plc, an AIM-traded resources company with gold exploration properties in Turkey and a Non-Executive Director and shareholder of Iceni Oil and Gas Limited, a private company with North Sea oil and gas exploration projects recently sold to Bridge Resources Corp, a company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.


Gavin is also a founder and Non-Executive director of Fairholt Resource Investments plc, Halcyon River Investments plc and High Road Capital plc, all PLUS traded companies. Gavin is also a Non-Executive director of Globo plc, an AIM listed software company with operations in Greece. Globo plc acquired Globo Technologies S.A. by way of reverse takeover in December 2007. Gavin holds a degree in Accounting and Finance.
